Since the opening of the Union Stock Yards in 1865, the livestock market and packinghouses attracted a diverse population of workers to the surrounding neighborhoods. The Packingtown Museum here at The Plant has been digitizing stories that tell the personal experiences of families who came to the Stock Yards to work, and to Back of the Yards to live. More stories have recently become available online and can be read in full here.
