Mar. 2024 Newsletter

Our fifth edition of Reuse-a-Palooza at The Plant marked a significant gathering of over 650 participants, encompassing both new and returning members of our community. Our focus was on fostering insightful discussions around the themes of waste reduction and repurposing, crucial in today's environmentally conscious landscape. We added in some St. Patrick's Day fun with Whiner Beer and Back of the Yards Algae Sciences' naturally colored phycocyanin—an extract of blue-green algae and a safe, non-toxic food colorant—to make green beer! We were also joined by a handful of new, eco-minded organizations, like Madd Science Print Lab, who screen-printed designs on attendees light-colored clothing. Third Act Illinois, 350 Chicago, One Year for Earth, and Trash People were some additional new faces, and Reduce Waste Chicago, PCs for People, Working Bikes, Community Glue, PAWS ChicagoBliss Joy Bull and many others returned.
